Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs until well combined.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish.
Cream Cheese Layer
- In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Spoon dollops of the cream cheese mixture over the batter, and then sprinkle the chopped strawberries, shredded coconut, and nuts over the top.
Combine and Bake
- Pour the remaining batter over everything in the dish.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean.
- Let it cool before serving with whipped cream if desired.
Notes
Add a splash of vanilla extract for extra flavor. This cake can be customized with other fruits like raspberries or blueberries. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
