Pasta and Protein
  • 8 ounces Penne Pasta Cook until al dente
  • 1 pound Chicken or Shrimp Substitute with mushrooms, zucchini, or tofu for vegetarian option
Sauce and Seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun Seasoning Adjust based on heat preference
  • 1 cup Cream Use plant-based cream for vegan option
  • 1/2 cup Cheese (optional) Fresh Parmesan, Monterey Jack, or cheddar work well
  • 1 cup Bell Peppers Any variety
  • 1 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes or Jalapeños Adjust based on heat preference

Method
 

Cooking the Pasta
  1. Boil a pot of salted water and cook the penne pasta until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Preparing the Protein
  1. In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add chicken or shrimp and cook until fully cooked. Remove from skillet.
Sautéing the Peppers
  1. In the same skillet, add bell peppers and sauté until softened.
Making the Sauce
  1. Lower the heat, stir in Cajun seasoning and cream, mixing well. Allow it to simmer gently.
Combining Everything
  1. Add the cooked pasta and protein back into the skillet. Mix or toss gently to coat everything in the sauce.
Final Seasoning
  1. Add red pepper flakes or jalapeños according to your heat preference. Adjust seasoning if needed.
Serving the Dish
  1. Remove from heat, sprinkle with cheese if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

For best flavor, add a squeeze of lemon juice before serving. Can be customized with favorite proteins or vegetables.
