  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined Fresh shrimp are ideal, but frozen can work too. Can substitute with chicken or tofu.
  • 2 cups cooked rice, jasmine or basmati Use leftover rice or cook rice in advance. Alternatives include quinoa or cauliflower rice.
Aromatics
  • 2 cloves minced garlic Fresh garlic for the best flavor; avoid overcooking.
Seasoning/Spice Blend
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika For a delightful kick.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes Use Cajun seasoning for more spice if desired.
Liquids/Dairy
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Can substitute with coconut milk.
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha Adjust to suit spice tolerance.
Optional Finishing Ingredients
  • chopped green onions For garnish.
  • lime wedges To enhance flavors.

Method
 

Cooking
  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 1 minute, stirring frequently until fragrant.
  3. Add the shrimp to the pan, season with paprika, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally until the shrimp are pink and opaque.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream and sriracha. Stir well and let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and mix in the cooked rice. Stir until everything is evenly coated, about 2 minutes.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  7. Plate the dish, garnishing with chopped green onions and lime wedges.

Notes

Serve in bowls for a cozy feel; great with a side salad or steamed vegetables. Customize with your favorite veggies or a sprinkle of sesame seeds for added texture.
