  • 4 large large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter for greasing the baking dish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, then sprinkle with salt, pepper, half of the onion, and half of the garlic.
  3. Pour half of the cream over the potatoes and sprinkle with half of the cheeses.
  4. Repeat layers with the remaining potatoes, onion, garlic, cream, and cheeses.
Baking
  1. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender.
  3. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary. This dish can be customized with different cheeses or even bacon for extra richness.
