Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, then sprinkle with salt, pepper, half of the onion, and half of the garlic.
- Pour half of the cream over the potatoes and sprinkle with half of the cheeses.
- Repeat layers with the remaining potatoes, onion, garlic, cream, and cheeses.
Baking
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, consider adding fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary. This dish can be customized with different cheeses or even bacon for extra richness.
