Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla until well combined.
  4. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and blend until smooth.
  5. Carefully stir in the boiling water—this will thin the batter.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between prepared cake pans.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Allow cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
Frosting and Assembly
  1. For the frosting, beat softened butter, then gradually add powdered sugar and heavy cream, along with vanilla extract until creamy.
  2. Fold in crushed Oreo cookies into the frosting mixture.
  3. Level the cooled cakes if needed, and layer them with Oreo frosting in between.
  4. Cover the entire cake with more frosting and top with whole Oreo cookies for decoration.
