Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 8 slices slices of bread (preferably brioche or challah)
  • 4 slices slices of ham
  • 4 slices slices of turkey
  • 4 slices slices of Swiss cheese
  • 6 large large eggs
  • 1 cup cup of milk
  • 1/4 cup cup of heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon teaspoon of salt
  • Powdered sugar (for serving)
  • Jam (for serving)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Layer half of the bread slices at the bottom of the dish. Top with ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese.
  3. Place the remaining bread slices on top.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
  5. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the casserole, ensuring that all the bread is soaked.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and let it sit for about 30 minutes to allow the bread to absorb the custard.
Baking
  1. Bake covered for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and set in the center.
  2. Dust with powdered sugar before serving and provide warm jam on the side.

Notes

Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar, and paired with jam. Customize the casserole by adjusting the meats and cheeses used.
