Noodles
  • 8 oz 8 oz (225g) noodles (spaghetti, udon, or rice noodles) Choose your favorite type of noodle.
Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb 1 lb (450g) ground beef You can use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 2 tbsp 2 tbsp vegetable oil For cooking the beef.
  • 3 cloves 3 cloves garlic, minced Adds flavor and aroma.
  • 1 inch 1-inch piece ginger, minced For adding a warming spice.
  • ¼ cup ¼ cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free) Use tamari for gluten-free version.
  • ¼ cup ¼ cup brown sugar Provides sweetness to balance the sauce.
  • ½ cup ½ cup beef broth Enhances the sauce flavor.
  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp hoisin sauce Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tbsp water) To thicken the sauce.
  • ½ tsp ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional) For a spicy kick.
  • ½ cup ½ cup green onions, chopped For garnish and freshness.
  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish) Adds crunch and flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cook the Noodles – Boil the noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook the Beef – In a large pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  3. Sauté Aromatics – Add garlic and ginger to the beef, cooking for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Make the Sauce – In a bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, hoisin sauce, and red pepper flakes. Pour into the pan with the beef and stir well.
  5. Thicken the Sauce – Add the cornstarch slurry (cornstarch mixed with water) to the pan. Stir and let it simmer until the sauce thickens.
  6. Combine with Noodles – Add the cooked noodles to the pan and toss until well coated with the sauce.
  7. Garnish and Serve – Sprinkle chopped green onions and sesame seeds over the dish before serving.

Notes

Enhance flavors with a splash of lime juice. Customize by adding bell peppers or snap peas. Serve with extra sesame seeds and soy sauce on the side.
