  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced (optional) Optional for extra flavor
  • 4 slices cheese (provolone or American)
  • 4 rolls hoagie rolls Soft rolls are preferred
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • olive oil for cooking Use for sautéing

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced onions (and bell pepper if using) and sauté until soft.
  3. Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.
  4. Divide the beef mixture into four portions in the skillet.
  5. Place a slice of cheese on top of each portion and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
  6. Meanwhile, toast the hoagie rolls.
  7. Once the cheese is melted, scoop each portion onto the toasted rolls.

Notes

Serve cheesesteaks with crispy fries or a simple salad for a complete meal. They can be customized with different toppings.
