Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice (uncooked)
  • 1 packet French onion soup mix
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella or Swiss cheese
  • ½ cup French-fried onions

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in the French onion soup mix, beef broth, and uncooked rice. Bring to a gentle simmer for about 5 minutes, letting the rice absorb some of the liquid.
  4. Remove from heat and mix in the sour cream and half of the cheese until well combined.
  5. Transfer the beef and rice mixture into a greased casserole dish. Top with the remaining cheese and French-fried onions.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until bubbly and golden.
