Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the French onion soup mix, beef broth, and uncooked rice. Bring to a gentle simmer for about 5 minutes, letting the rice absorb some of the liquid.
- Remove from heat and mix in the sour cream and half of the cheese until well combined.
- Transfer the beef and rice mixture into a greased casserole dish. Top with the remaining cheese and French-fried onions.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until bubbly and golden.
