Preparation
- Start by heating a skillet over medium heat.
- Spread butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
Cooking
- Place one slice, butter-side down, in the skillet.
- Layer Swiss cheese and roast beef on the bread in the skillet.
- Sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Top with another slice of bread, butter-side up.
- Cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side until golden and cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes more.
Serving
- Meanwhile, heat beef broth in a small pot until warm.
- Slice the sandwich in half and serve with warm beef broth for dipping.
Notes
Experiment with different types of cheese or add sautéed onions or peppers for a tasty twist. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and freeze for up to 1 month.
