  • 4 slices Sourdough bread
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese Use high-quality Swiss cheese for best flavor.
  • 8 oz Roast beef Use freshly sliced roast beef.
  • 1 cup Beef broth Warmed for dipping.
  • 2 tbsp Butter Softened, for spreading on bread.
Seasonings
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Start by heating a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Spread butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
Cooking
  1. Place one slice, butter-side down, in the skillet.
  2. Layer Swiss cheese and roast beef on the bread in the skillet.
  3. Sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Top with another slice of bread, butter-side up.
  5. Cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side until golden and cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes more.
Serving
  1. Meanwhile, heat beef broth in a small pot until warm.
  2. Slice the sandwich in half and serve with warm beef broth for dipping.

Notes

Experiment with different types of cheese or add sautéed onions or peppers for a tasty twist. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and freeze for up to 1 month.
