Ingredients
  

Danish Pastry Components
  • 1 sheet puff pastry Thawed if frozen
  • 8 oz cream cheese Softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup espresso or strong coffee Cooled
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg for egg wash
Apple Filling
  • 2 medium apples Peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp butter

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, cooled espresso, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into squares.
  4. Place a tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square.
  5. Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling to create a pocket.
Cooking Apple Filling
  1. Arrange the sliced apples in a pan with butter and cinnamon, cooking until soft (about 5-7 minutes).
Baking
  1. Place pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush with egg wash.
  2. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Serving
  1. Serve warm, topped with cinnamon apples.

Notes

Add a pinch of nutmeg for extra warmth. Try different fruits like pears or berries for a twist. Drizzle with caramel sauce for added sweetness.
