- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and roll each in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Remove from oven and allow to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For best results, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking to prevent spreading. You can also roll the dough in colored sugar for a festive touch.
