  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Whipped Cream and Toppings
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup crunchy streusel
  • 1 cup caramel sauce

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture, alternating with milk until smooth.
Baking
  1. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Allow cakes to cool completely.
Assembly
  1. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  2. Assemble the layers by placing one cake on a serving plate, spreading a layer of whipped cream, then adding crunchy streusel.
  3. Top with the second cake, drizzle with caramel sauce, and decorate as desired.

Notes

Enhance flavor with cinnamon or almond extract. Customize with nuts or fresh fruit. Serve with a scoop of ice cream for an extra treat.
