Ingredients
  

Main Protein
  • 1.5 lb Chicken breast Trim any excess fat and cut into even pieces.
Seasoning/Spice Blend
  • 1 tsp Dried oregano Toast spices briefly in the microwave to intensify their flavors.
  • 1 tsp Paprika Toast spices briefly in the microwave to intensify their flavors.
  • 1 tsp Onion powder Toast spices briefly in the microwave to intensify their flavors.
  • 1 tsp Black pepper Toast spices briefly in the microwave to intensify their flavors.
  • 1 tsp Salt Toast spices briefly in the microwave to intensify their flavors.
Liquids/Dairy
  • 1/2 cup Dijon mustard Adjust according to your flavor preference.
  • 1/2 cup Honey Adjust according to your sweetness preference.
  • 2 tbsp Melted butter For mixing into the sauce.
  • 1/2 cup Heavy cream (optional) Stir in during the last 30 minutes of cooking for creaminess.
Aromatics & Vegetables
  • 4 cloves Garlic Mince for a more potent flavor.
Optional Finishing Ingredients
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch Mix with cold water to thicken the sauce, if desired.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Trim the chicken breast and place it evenly in the crockpot.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the honey, Dijon mustard, melted butter, minced garlic, oregano, paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pour the sauce over the chicken in the crockpot, making sure each piece is covered.
Cooking
  1. Cover the crockpot and set it to cook on low for 6 hours.
  2. Check for doneness after 6 hours; the chicken should be tender and easily shred with a fork. If not ready, cook for an additional 30 minutes.
  3. If desired, mix cornstarch with cold water and stir it in during the last 30 minutes of cooking for a thicker sauce.
  4. At the end of cooking, stir in the heavy cream for a rich and creamy sauce.

Notes

Serve chicken over rice or alongside steamed vegetables. For additional flavors, marinate overnight in the sauce and consider adding chopped vegetables.
