Ingredients
  

For the crispy mini bloomin' onions
  • 4 small small onions Fresh onions add unique sweetness.
  • 1 cup buttermilk Soak onions in buttermilk for minimum 30 minutes.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • as needed Oil for frying Heat to 350°F (175°C).
For the ranch dip
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon dried dill
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Peel the onions and slice off the top, leaving the root intact.
  2. Soak the onions in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Remove the onions from the buttermilk and dredge them in the flour mixture.
Cooking
  1. Heat oil in a deep pan to about 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry the onions in the hot oil for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown.
  3. For the ranch dip, mix mayonnaise, sour cream, dill, chives, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  4. Drain the fried onions on paper towels and serve with the ranch dip.

Notes

Serve warm for the best crispy experience. You can season the buttermilk with hot sauce or lemon juice for extra flavor.
