For the Pasta
  • 12 oz penne, fettuccine, or spaghetti Any long or short pasta will work; penne and fettuccine are great choices.
  • Salt, for pasta water Enhances the flavor.
For the Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter Forms the base of the creamy sauce.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Adds aromatic depth.
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning Adding to the sauce intensifies flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika For a smoky flavor.
  • 1 cup heavy cream Makes the sauce velvety and rich.
  • ½ cup chicken broth Adds a savory base to the sauce.
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese Adds salty, umami depth.
Optional Additions

Method
 

Preparation of Chicken
  1. Season the chicken breasts with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the chicken until it’s golden brown and cooked through.
  3. Remove from skillet and let it rest before slicing.
Cooking the Pasta
  1. In a large pot, boil salted water and add the pasta.
  2. Cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta, reserving a cup of pasta water for later.
Making the Cajun Cream Sauce
  1. In the same skillet used for the chicken, melt the butter and sauté minced garlic until fragrant.
  2. Stir in more Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, heavy cream, and chicken broth.
  3. Let the sauce simmer until thickened, then add Parmesan cheese and stir until melted.
Combining Ingredients
  1. Add the drained pasta and sliced chicken to the sauce.
  2. Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water if needed to reach the desired consistency.
  3. Serve with fresh parsley, a squeeze of lemon juice, and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes.

Notes
