Ingredients
  

Pasta and Meat
  • 8 oz penne pasta
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
Sauce Ingredients
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 2 tsp olive oil for sautéing Use for sautéing the onion and garlic

Method
 

Cooking the Pasta
  1. Cook the penne according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. Drain and reserve 1 cup of pasta water.
Making the Sauce
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil.
  2. Sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks until browned, about 7 minutes.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  5. Lower the heat and stir in heavy cream.
  6. Gradually add reserved pasta water until desired sauce consistency is reached.
  7. Mix in grated Parmesan until melted.
Combining
  1. Combine cooked pasta with the sauce in the skillet, tossing gently to coat.
  2. Serve hot, garnished with additional Parmesan or fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, add crushed red pepper or fresh herbs. Customize with ground turkey for a leaner dish. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
