Ingredients
  

Main Protein
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend) Alternatively, turkey or lean beef can be used.
Seasoning/Spice Blend
  • 1 packet taco seasoning Homemade options using chili powder, cumin, and paprika can also be used.
Aromatics & Vegetables
  • 2 cloves minced garlic Alternatively, use garlic powder.
  • 1 small diced onion Alternatively, use onion powder.
Liquids/Dairy
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 mix creamy sauce Greek yogurt or sour cream can be used as lighter alternatives.
Seasoning
  • to taste salt
  • to taste freshly ground black pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Begin by heating a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes until soft and translucent.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Let it brown for 5-7 minutes until no longer pink.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Sprinkle in the taco seasoning and mix well. Pour in the 1/4 cup of water and stir to combine, simmering for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Pour in your creamy sauce and stir until everything is well coated and heated through, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Taste the mixture and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
  7. Serve the cheesy taco filling in warm tortillas, adding your favorite toppings!

Notes

Enhance flavor with jalapeños or chili powder. Customize toppings based on personal preference. Serve with a simple salad to balance flavors.
