Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 cups Potatoes (diced into small cubes) Typically, Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes are used for their creaminess.
  • 1 pound Smoked Sausage (sliced) Use your favorite smoked sausage for depth of flavor; turkey sausage is a good lean alternative.
  • 2 cups Creamy Cheese (e.g., Cheddar, shredded) Cheddar cheese works great for its flavor and meltability.
  • 1 packet Ranch Seasoning A packet of ranch seasoning gives that signature flavor boost.
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil Use vegetable oil or olive oil for sautéing the sausage and potatoes.
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper Use fresh ground pepper for a bit of heat.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Dice the potatoes and place them in a large mixing bowl. Toss them with vegetable oil, salt, and pepper to coat evenly.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, cook the smoked sausage over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes until it’s slightly browned.
  2. Add the diced potatoes to the skillet with the sausage. Sprinkle the ranch seasoning over the mixture and stir everything well to ensure even coverage.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and spread it out evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes until the potatoes are tender and slightly crispy on the edges.
  4. Remove the baking dish from the oven and sprinkle the cheese on top. Return it to the oven for an additional 5-8 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Once baked, let the dish cool for a few moments and serve warm.

Notes

Serve directly from the pan for a rustic display or transfer to a serving platter. Pair with a green salad or steamed vegetables for a complete meal. Enjoy with a refreshing iced tea or a cold beer.
