Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound smoked sausage (halal-certified, no pork) The smoky flavor star of the dish.
  • 4 cups baby potatoes, halved or quartered They cook quickly and hold their shape well.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix (make sure it's halal-certified) Adds that tangy, herby flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of your favorite cheeses) Creates a creamy texture that makes you want more.
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (optional, for serving)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to help the potatoes roast beautifully.
  2. Prep the Potatoes: Wash and cut the baby potatoes in half or quarters for even cooking.
  3. Slice the Smoked Sausage: Cut the sausage into 1/4-inch thick rounds for even cooking.
Mixing and Coating
  1. Combine the Seasonings: In a small bowl, mix the ranch seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
  2. Coat the Potatoes: In a large bowl, drizzle the olive oil over the potatoes and sprinkle half of the ranch seasoning. Toss to coat well.
  3. Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Cooking
  1. Spread the Potatoes on the Sheet: Lay the seasoned potatoes in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  2. Add the Sausage: Scatter the sausage pieces evenly over the potatoes.
  3. Roast in the Oven: Roast for 35-40 minutes, stirring halfway through for even cooking.
  4. Add the Cheese: Once the potatoes are tender, sprinkle the cheese over the top and bake for an additional 5 minutes until melted.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, garnish with parsley, and enjoy hot with a dollop of sour cream, if desired.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding red pepper flakes or hot sauce. Customize with veggies like bell peppers or broccoli. Serve with extra ranch dressing on the side for dipping.
