  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced Fresh potatoes are recommended.
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice) Feel free to use your favorite cheese.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup Can substitute for cream of chicken soup.
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust seasoning based on preference.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk; mix well.
  4. Layer half of the potatoes in a 9x13 inch baking dish. Add half of the beef mixture, then half of the cheese. Repeat layers, finishing with cheese on top.
  5. Pour the soup mixture over the top layer.
Baking
  1. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  2. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly.

Notes

Enhance flavor with garlic or herbs. Customize with different meat or veggies. Serve with fresh herbs for added color.
