  • 1 pound ground beef Browned in skillet
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced Layered in the casserole
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice) For topping
  • 1 cup cream of mushroom soup Used in layering
  • 1 1 onion, diced Adds flavor to the beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Adds flavor to the beef
  • 0.5 cup milk Combines with soup for layering
  • Salt and pepper to taste For seasoning
  • Chopped parsley (optional) For garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until the onion is translucent.
Layering and Baking
  1. In a large baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  2. Spread half of the beef mixture over the potatoes, then add half of the soup and milk mixture.
  3. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef mixture, and soup. Top with shredded cheese.
  4. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  5. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly.
  6. Let it cool for a few minutes, then garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

Serve alongside a fresh garden salad or garlic bread for a complete meal. Add paprika or Italian herbs for extra flavor. Freeze individual portions for later use.
