Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced Regular or sweet potatoes can be used.
  • 1 cup onion, diced Add more or less according to taste.
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to use a different cheese.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup Use gluten-free version if needed.
  • 1 cup milk Any kind of milk works.
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until the beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Layering
  1. In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by the cooked ground beef mixture, and then half of the cheese.
  2. Pour half of the soup mixture over the layers. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients, finishing with the soup mixture and topping with the remaining cheese.
Baking
  1. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  2. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly.
  3. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve in large portions, and it's great with a side of salad and crusty bread. Customize with fresh herbs or additional vegetables.
