Ingredients
  

For the apple filling
  • 4 cups sliced apples Use seasonal apples for the best flavor.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
For the topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Gluten-free option: Substitute with almond flour.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine sliced apples with granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread the apples evenly in a greased baking dish.
Making the topping
  1. In another bowl, mix rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Stir in melted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples.
Baking
  1. Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly.
  2. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
