Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 4 cups sliced apples Use seasonal apples for best flavor.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Substitute with gluten-free flour if needed.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Melted.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine sliced apples with granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread the apples evenly in a greased baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, mix rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Stir in melted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples.
Baking
  1. Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly.
  2. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

For added flavor, mix in nuts or raisins. Pair with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving. Can be frozen for up to 3 months.
